Medical examinations

A pre-employment examination is requested by the employer and is essential for certain occupations that entail risk, or safeguarding against risk, prior to appointment.

Risk occupations include, for example, professional scuba divers, grandstand erectors, etc.

Safeguarding positions are those where any default on the part of the employee would jeopardise the lives of others (crane drivers, machine operators, public transport drivers, etc.)

A pre-examination is also required for employees under the age of 18 at the time of appointment.
